For the past three decades, Gustav has been in the sport, leisure, and related corporate industries, of which the majority was spent as club manager and CEO of golf and residential estates and a private club, as well as the CEO and CFO of a golf course design and construction company. His corporate experience arises from working for a listed company. He has retired end of September 2021, after having completed eight years as the General Manager of The River Club in Johannesburg, arguably one of the most exclusive private golf courses in Africa.
He, unfortunately, suffered a massive stroke within a month of his retirement and is still recovering, although not as fast as he would like.
Gustav structures his talks to address the specific problems encountered by the customer. It can centre around the experiences and challenges gained in his journey through the vastly different entities where he worked, as well as from living as a stroke survivor, and he uses humorous anecdotes to drive his point home.
He can also apply his knowledge and passion for nature gained as an Honorary Game Ranger, addressing managerial principles using analogies from the African bush. His powerful and riveting presentation uses spectacular video inserts and slides of animal interaction.
He has presented with great success and with a no-holds-barred approach at numerous forums and for different organizations and companies globally over the past 15 years, also frequently as keynote speaker. At present, he is also on the Speakers of Note panel in South Africa.
